Wells Fargo, Union Bank Foundation Support ULSDC’s Ignite Your Future Program San Diego, CA — After seeking and competing for a number of new grant opportunities last year, the Urban League of San Diego County (ULSDC) is pleased to announce that it has received more than $100,000 in funding to help San Diego residents in underserved communities receive social and economic financial coaching. “We are working to create a better San Diego, person by person,” said Ray King, president and CEO of the ULSDC. “This new grant money will enable us to help more San Diego residents reach their full potential by receiving financial planning, coaching and other wrap-around services they need to get on their feet and get a good job. We’re glad to receive support from the National Urban League, Wells Fargo and Union Bank Foundation to build a better future for our residents who are looking for a roadmap to financial stability.” The new funds will support ULSDC’s Ignite Your Future program, which aims to equip San Diego residents in underserved areas with tangible skills to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency. Of the funds received, Wells Fargo contributed a $22,000 grant, the MUFG Union Bank Foundation contributed a $16,000 grant and the National Urban League provided $65,000 for the program. The Ignite Your Future program will train local residents in the region on how to secure a job, plan a career, maintain employment, problem-solve, build skills and work toward financial goals. The program will also help move participants into higher-skilled and better-paying positions over time. The program will also provide ULSDC with an opportunity to help enhance overall San Diego's economic outlook by improving job-readiness skills and increasing opportunities for underserved residents and communities.
